Week 2 Assignment - Create a simple “Digital Anachronism

The assignment was to choose a time period and use found (secondary) images to create a composite image. The image could be as complex or as simple but it needed to make sense.

This assignment was interesting and fun to do. I found two great pictures that I felt I could be creative with so I used them both. In the first image, King Henry VIII shows that he is an avid football fan. In image two, Alexander Graham Bell makes the first telephone call.

Week 1 Assignment - Images

The assignment for week was was to find an image that could be used in a classroom situation to provoke a discussion of lead to a class contemplation.

I couldn't decide on just one image. I found several images that can be used in my class for several assignments. The images (Mermaid and Spider) are great when I am teaching the students how to use the lasso, quick selection and magic wand tools.

I do a project in my class entitled "Put yourself in the picture" that I used as my final project for the Adobe Digital Creativity Class. The assignment is for students to tell a story and “put themselves in the picture. They will go on the Internet to find a creative and interesting picture to use as a background for their story. They will import a picture or pictures of themselves, friends or family members that were saved on a flash drive. They will crop and erase any unnecessary part of the picture. They will transform the picture to make it fit properly. The images Elephant and Frog, are good examples of backgrounds for this project.

Finally, we did a project in Digital Creativity class called Big and small. The image I titled "Big and Small" is a great representation of what the project should consist of. I intend to use this project in my class.

Adobe Generation Professional: Digital Imaging for Beginners

I just began my 3rd Adobe course.  This one is called Digital Imaging for Beginners.  This course outlines all you need to know about how to create, teach and use digital images in your classroom. Learn from both photography professionals and teaching experts.  I'm looking forward to learn some new things that I can incorporate into my class

Creative Challenge – Reflection

This course was a great way to become more familiar with Adobe software after finishing the Train the Trainer course. It was a great introduction to Flash and Premiere Pro. I was already using Photoshop in my classes. I have already enrolled in the Digital Imaging course and am looking forward to the upcoming Introduction to Animation and Video classes. My school is updating its curriculum to add more Adobe products while reducing  the amount of Microsoft. I want to eventually incorporate Flash into my curriculum. I found it to very interesting but a little tricky to catch onto at first. The walk cycle assignment is an excellent intro to animation project. Premiere Pro peaked my curiosity and I want to explore that more in the future.

Blogging for the classroom and sharing work online

Finally, I'm at the assignment which is the reason for this blog.  The focus is Blogs...how to make them and how to use them.  I decided to use my blog to chronicle my experiences in my Adobe classes present and future.  Since I have registered for the next class that begins, November 7th, Introduction to Digital Imaging, I can continue to blog me experiences.  Stay tuned....

Video In and Beyond the Classroom

Following Photoshop and Flash, we were introduced to Premiere Pro.  The focus was on using video in the classroom, how to make it and how to use it.  That week’s “Creative Challenge” assignment was to create a short video sequence or trailer promoting our favorite book from the entire world of literature. We had to create a sequence that creatively highlighted the key characteristics of the book in video format.

For this assignment, I selected The Grapes of Wrath.  I used images, a sound clip for the background music and an audio clip from the movie.  Although this was very time consuming since I was unfamiliar with the Premiere Pro workspace, again I had to rely on YouTube instructional videos to get through some parts of editing.  I am impressed with the finished project.

Introudction to Animation Using Flash

Next, we learned that Animation is the process of creating the illusion of movement through a sequence of static images.  Our assignment was to create a short walk cycle of a drawn character using the frame by frame technique described in the live class.   This assignment was far more difficult than Photoshop since I've never used Flash before.  In addition to the live class, I had to use additional resources including You Tube instructional videos as well a books for reference.  Here is my finished project.

Digital Creativity Essentials - Photoshop

We  began the course with a focus on digital creativity using Adobe Photoshop software.  During the week, we considered some of the key issues that could possibly be faced when teaching Photo Imaging for the first time and possible strategies for dealing with them.

Since Photoshop is software that I teach in my class, this week's lesson wasn't hard to complete.
